Learning Objective(s)
- Gain greater awareness of the specific dietary considerations outlined in the 2012 Canadian Cardiovascular Society’s (CCS) Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Dyslipidemia and be able to recommend these dietary changes to patients with high cholesterol levels.
- Become familiar with recommending functional foods for patients with high cholesterol levels.
- Have an increased knowledge of the scientific evidence on the cholesterol-lowering efficacy of plant sterols, both alone and as an adjunct to statins.
- Have access to relevant nutrition tools for patient assessment and nutrition counselling through discussion and review of a patient case.
