Seasonal Influenza Immunisation: Strategies for Older Adults (for Nurses) – Certificate of Completion

Description

This education program for nurses addresses national issues and opportunities in influenza immunisation for adults age 65 years and older, with the aim of supporting optimal decision-making in nursing practice, based on:

  • the particular burden of influenza-related illness among older adults
  • age-related changes in immunity (immunosenescence)
  • current opportunities for stimulating influenza immunity in the older adult population
  • the importance of immunisation for older adults and those who can transmit influenza to them

The 2018 influenza immunisation recommendations can be found in the Australian Immunisation Handbook.
