Why, when and how to initiate and titrate insulin in Type 2 diabetes – ACRRM

After completing this learning module, participants will be better able to:

1. Identify and review patients who have sub-optimal glycaemic management on non-insulin classes of glucose lowering medicines
2. Discuss the role of timely initiation of insulin in improving glycaemic management
3. Ascertain the risk: benefit ratio of titrating insulin to target, and evaluate the real versus perceived risk of hypoglycaemic events
4. Counsel patients with type 2 diabetes on the importance of improving and maintaining appropriate glycaemic management that has been individualised for their situation
