Join us for a 60-minute educational webinar for primary care clinicians and Dermatologists on assessing and managing common inflammatory scalp disease.
Despite their high prevalence, scalp complaints are frequently under-assessed in primary care, with severity rarely graded and important mimics often missed. Participants will examine a focused approach to history and scalp examination, including distribution beyond the scalp, severity assessment, and recognition of findings suggestive of psoriasis, contact dermatitis, tinea capitis or scarring alopecia. The program will also address practical gaps in treatment, including product application, contact time, treatment duration, maintenance therapy and factors affecting adherence such as hair type, washing frequency, tolerability and patient preference.
Participants will apply a severity-matched approach to management and explore why apparent treatment failure may reflect diagnosis, technique, duration or lack of maintenance rather than inadequate therapy. The session will emphasize that SD is controlled, and will highlight when reassessment, further investigation or dermatology referral is warranted, particularly in the presence of loss of follicular openings, pustules, pain, progressive hair loss or suspected scarring.
