On completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss the new 2016 Canadian Cardiovascular Society Guidelines for the Management of Dyslipidemia for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease in the Adult
  2. Apply the latest evidence as it relates to plant sterols, nutrition and the implications of dietary eating patterns on lowering cholesterol and preventing and managing dyslipidemia to counsel patients
  3. Provide an overview of the role plant sterols can play in the management of dyslipidemia, in combination with a heart-healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables, and as a potential adjunct to statins
