Learning Objective(s)
After completion of the program, participants will be able to:
- Explain the etiology of pancreatic exocrine insufficiency (PEI) and understand the clinical consequences;
- Recognize symptoms and signs of PEI and differentiate from other GI disorders (i.e., irritable bowel syndrome, Celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, etc);
- Identify patients with a probable diagnosis of PEI;
- Correctly prescribe pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT) and refer patients for specialist care.
