Topical oestrogen in menopause – when, why and how much? – ACRRM

On completion of this program, participants will be better able to:

1. Recall the role of topical oestrogens in symptom relief for postmenopausal women, and their place in therapy.
2. Review the basis of drug selection for different groups of patients with menopausal symptoms and counsel patients on the safe use of topical oestrogen in hormone replacement therapy.
3. Apply the dosing schedules of the various topical pharmacological options for the management of urogenital symptoms in menopause.
4. Discuss the importance of using the lowest effective dose, and counsel patients on the safe use of topical hormone replacement therapy.
