  1. Explain a functional gastrointestinal disorder to a patient;
  2. Discuss the epidemiology of abdominal pain and cramping;
  3. Assess a patient for “red-flag” circumstances that would prompt referral to a physician for further assessment;
  4. Review the role of non-pharmacological interventions in reducing GI symptoms; and,
  5. Discuss the role of antispasmodics for the self-medication of abdominal cramping and pain.
