Learning Objective(s)

On completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the prevalence of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women, and the public health burden associated with under-diagnosis and lack of treatment.
  2. Proactively investigate and diagnose osteoporosis in postmenopausal women using appropriate screening techniques including risk factor evaluation.
  3. Individualise pharmacological treatment strategies, taking into account route of administration and frequency of dosing, in order to reduce morbidity and increase quality of life.
  4. Counsel patients on safety and possible adverse effects associated with osteoporosis treatments.
