Novel oral anti-coagulants (NOACs) for prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with NVAF – Royal Australasian College of Surgeons

After completing this module, participants will be better able to:

1. Discuss the indications for anticoagulation therapy in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF)
2. Recall novel oral anticoagulant (NOAC) treatment options for patients with NVAF
3. Determine how to most effectively initiate and manage treatment with the NOACs for the prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with NVAF and at least one additional risk factor for stroke.
