New frontiers in back pain: A closer look at ankylosing spondylitis – QI&CPD – Category 2

On completion of this learning program, GPs will be better able to:

1. Confidently recognise ankylosing spondylitis (AS) from patient descriptors early in the course of disease in a general practice setting
2. Recognise when and how to refer patients to a rheumatologist
3. Recall the biologic treatment options available and their relevance to specific patient profiles
4. Monitor medications and recognise typical class side effects of various AS drugs to optimise patient safety
