Learning Objective(s)
By the end of this session participants should be better able to:
- Counsel patients to recognise the signs of uncontrolled asthma and increase patients’ awareness of the quality of life that can be attained when their asthma is well controlled.
- Be aware that ICS work synergistically with LABA to improve asthma control.
- Describe the available options in asthma medication administration devices, and be aware that the convenience of combination inhalers may lead to higher rates of adherence to therapy.
- Recognise that poor asthma control may be the result of other factors such as non-adherence, incorrect inhaler technique or poor patient symptom perception.
