Learning Objective(s)

By the end of this session participants should be better able to:

  1. Counsel patients to recognise the signs of uncontrolled asthma and increase patients’ awareness of the quality of life that can be attained when their asthma is well controlled.
  2. Be aware that ICS work synergistically with LABA to improve asthma control.
  3. Describe the available options in asthma medication administration devices, and be aware that the convenience of combination inhalers may lead to higher rates of adherence to therapy.
  4. Recognise that poor asthma control may be the result of other factors such as non-adherence, incorrect inhaler technique or poor patient symptom perception.
