Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

Vignette #1 – Intensification Beyond Metformin:

  • Review the key considerations for selecting an antihyperglycemic agent after metformin therapy
  • Examine the impact of cardiovascular disease and patient preference on antihyperglycemic agent selection

Vignette #2 – Intensification Beyond Basal Insulin:

  • Review when to consider intensification in therapy in a patient with type 2 diabetes on basal insulin
  • Examine the different therapy options clinicians can consider adding to basal insulin therapy in type 2 diabetes

Vignette #3 – Impact of Ramadan on Type 2 Diabetes:

  • Determine which patients with diabetes should or should not fast for Ramadan
  • Provide patients with basic dietary considerations for eating during Ramadan
  • Review the therapy considerations for patients who will be fasting for Ramadan

Vignette #4 – Older Adult with Type 2 Diabetes:

  • Determine the adjustments in glycemic targets for older adults with diabetes
  • Assess a patient’s frailty in clinical practice
  • Review antihyperglycemic therapy adjustments for older adults with frailty
