Cervical screening for nurses. Optimal collection techniques for a quality Pap test – Australian Practice Nurses Association

After completing this program participants will be better able to:

1. Understand the different types of cervical screening tests available in Australia
2. Effectively sample and collect cells for both conventional Pap test and liquid-based cytology (LBC)
3. Appreciate the benefits of LBC with regard to accuracy and efficacy in screening for HPV and other sexually acquired infections
4. Identify high-risk patients who could benefit from LBC
5. Discuss the benefits of LBC with general practitioners and patients, as appropriate
