In recent years, the landscape of non-hormonal drugs for VMS has expanded significantly, offering alternatives for women who are contraindicated or prefer not to use hormone therapy (HT). This module focuses on new neurokinin receptor antagonists authorized by Health Canada for treatment of VMS. Neurokinin is a small signalling molecule in the brain that helps to regulate temperature, mood, pain, and stress responses. Neurokinin receptor antagonists are a class of drugs that block the action of neurokinins.
