After completion of the program, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the types of OTC analgesics and where they fit in the armamentarium to treat mild to moderate pain;
  2. Explain the benefits and risks/potential harms of using acetaminophen and/or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for mild to moderate pain;
  3. Summarize the considerations when selecting analgesics in patients with underlying medical and /or co-morbid conditions;
  4. Discuss optimal dosages of OTC analgesics for common mild to moderate pain presentations.
