This continuing medical education program is designed to provide general practitioners with an up-to-date approach to the management of diabetes, with the aim of optimising outcomes for their patients. The program has an emphasis on the role of DPP4 inhibitors, and their place in the 2020 Australian Diabetes Society and RACGP type 2 diabetes management algorithm.
This program is supported by an independent educational grant provided by MSD.

Learning objectives
Upon completion of this continuing education program participants will be better able to:
- Describe the importance of early and proactive glycaemic management
- Optimise patient outcomes by increasing vigilance around timely monitoring of HbA1c and early and proactive treatment escalation
- Identify clinical and patient factors that can impact the efficacy of a glucose-lowering medicine to reduce HbA1c
- Implement shared decision making strategies to select the most appropriate glucose-lowering regimen for individual patients with type 2 diabetes
