People living with HIV (PLHIV) commonly experience mental illness, with epidemiological studies indicating approximately 47.9% of PLHIV are affected. This rate of psychological difficulties is significantly higher than the general population and can have a major impact on quality of life, complicate clinical care and adversely affect physical health outcomes.
