Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the mechanism of action of sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, their efficacy in glucose, weight and blood pressure reduction, side effects, and monitoring
  2. Describe the available evidence for the use of SGLT2 inhibitors in the management of type 2 diabetes
  3. Identify patients who would benefit from SGLT2 inhibitor therapy and assess the need for adjustments to concurrent medications
  4. Describe key counselling points around SGLT2 inhibitor therapy
