Course Description

Diabetes in adults is a prevalent and complex chronic disease that affects a significant and growing number of Canadians. Improvement of glucose levels into the normal range can occur in some people living with diabetes with early intensive interventions, and in some cases can persist after withdrawal of glucose-lowering pharmacotherapy. Such sustained improvement may now be occurring more often due to newer forms of treatment. In this expert brief, Dr. Sara Stafford and Dr. Jeff Winterstein discuss the possibility of achieving diabetes remission through healthy behaviour interventions and newer pharmacologic treatment options for type 2 diabetes.
