  1. Identify patients at possible risk of urinary tract infections, and describe factors that predispose women to urinary tract infections
  2. Identify common pathogens associated with urinary tract infections, appreciate which pathogens commonly develop resistance and the impact this has on treatment outcomes
  3. Compare over the counter therapies currently available for urinary tract infections
  4. Differentiate between the modes of action and roles of short-term antibiotic treatment and long-term prophylaxis with bacteriostatic agents, and be aware how these impact on patient safety
