Course Description

Upon successful completion of this certificate-level continuing education program, you will be better able to:

  1. Assess smoking status and employ counselling strategies tailored to the individual patient.
  2. Understand the appropriate use of pharmacotherapies and behavioral therapies in smoking cessation.
  3. Identify key issues with tobacco use in specific populations (mental illness, aboriginal and pregnancy) and implications for pharmacotherapy.
  4. Provide patients with information on region-specific programs and services for smoking cessation and funding for pharmacotherapy.
