Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  1. Effectively utilize acetaminophen for mild to moderate pain relief in those suffering from hypertension or currently on low dose acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) 81 mg for cardioprotection.
  2. Identify appropriate use of over-the-counter (OTC) pain relievers such as acetaminophen for specific patients (e.g. patients with hypertension, cardiovascular disease, osteoarthritis).
  3. Explore the efficacy and safety of acetaminophen and its role in providing mild to moderate pain relief for specific patients.
  4. Identify reasons for recommending an OTC pain reliever such as acetaminophen compared to other products, particularly in certain patient groups.
  5. Implement patient counselling regarding the appropriate use of an OTC pain reliever such as acetaminophen.
