Learning objectives
Upon successful completion of this module, the pharmacist will be able to:
- Describe the applicable sections of the new Pharmaceutical Act and Regulations and integrate the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba’s practice direction related to administering injections into their practice
- Explain the recommended immunization schedule in Manitoba
- Examine the ideal routes of injection administration for medications and drugs that a pharmacist may need to administer that are not vaccinations
- Explain proper procedures when reconstituting and preparing medications for injection
- Discuss the key sites and factors affecting needle choice for intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal routes of administering injections
