Nurses play an important role in identifying patients for whom subcutaneous immunoglobulin therapy (SCIg) therapy is clinically relevant and to educate these patients on the benefits of SCIg therapy at home. Nurses therefore play a major role in increasing SCIg uptake.
This 1-hour interactive case-based module for nurses describes the various SCIg therapies available in Australia and demonstrates administration techniques involving push and pump methods, plus providing information on safe and effective handling of SCIg products, including storage and disposal.

Learning objectives
On completion of this program, nurses will be better able to:
- Describe the various subcutaneous immunoglobulin (SCIg) administration techniques involving, push and pump methods and counsel patients on the safe and effective handling of SCIg products, including storage and disposal
- Create awareness of SCIg therapy for immunodeficiency patients, and the various SCIg therapy options available in Australia
- Identify patients for whom SCIg therapy is clinically relevant
- Describe differences between intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) and SCIg therapy.
