Learning objectives
After completing this program, participants will be able to:
- Describe the aetiology, features, risk factors and triggers for the different types of psoriasis
- Evaluate the clinical severity of psoriasis and its effects on quality of life and psychosocial health
- Describe the available biologic therapies for psoriasis, including mechanisms of action and evidence for efficacy and safety
- Understand the risk of malignancy in the psoriatic patient and recommendations for managing these patients
- Select and switch biologic treatments for psoriasis based on patient factors, efficacy and safety, indications and guideline recommendations
- Understand the evidence for the safety of biologic therapy in pregnant and lactating women with psoriasis
- Understand the criteria and application processes for initial and continuing PBS subsidised biologic therapy for severe chronic plaque psoriasis
