Learning objectives
On completion of this program, GPs will be better able to:
- Assess patients regarding their contraceptive needs and prescribe the most appropriate combined oral contraceptive pills (COCPs)
- Counsel patients regarding how to manage heavy or difficult periods
- Distinguish between available options among oral contraceptives with regard to dosing and regimens
- Asses the data regarding the long-term impact of fewer periods and consistent hormone levels
- Counsel patients on the safe and proper use of new COCPs, including emergency contraceptives*
