Learning objectives
- Recognise seizures from patient descriptors in a general practice setting, and distinguish between different seizure types
- Recall initial treatment and common add-on options for different types of seizures, and understand the prescribing implications of age and gender, based on pharmacokinetic and other factors
- Monitor medications and understand typical class side effects of various anti-epileptic drugs (AED) to optimise patient safety
- Identify the circumstances in which referral to a neurologist is warranted.
