After completing this program, participants will be better able to:

  1. Assess QOL of patients with moderate-to-severe CNCP, and critically ascertain the role of opioid analgesics in improving QOL scores
  2. Appreciate the need for a multimodal management approach for people with moderate-to-severe CNCP
  3. Counsel patients regarding available treatment options for moderate-to-severe CNCP, including the appropriate use of short-acting and long-acting opioid analgesics to improve patient safety
  4. Select and implement pain assessment and monitoring tools and apply universal precautions of pain medicine to assist in best practice strong analgesic (S8) prescribing
