From the Gut and the Heart: Balancing Benefits and Risks with NSAIDs (Gulf) – MOC Section 1

After completion of the program, participants will be able to:

1. Effectively manage patients with acute lower back and chronic osteoarthritis pain with COX-2 inhibitors.
2. Describe the overall benefits and barriers to the use of the COX-2 inhibitor class of pain management.
3. Differentiate the agents within the COX-2 inhibitor class on the basis of their indications.
4. Differentiate NSAIDs (nsNSAIDs and COX-2 inhibitors) on the basis of their cardiovascular and gastrointestinal safety profiles.
