Cracks in the system – the screening, diagnosis and management of osteoporosis in men – QI&CPD – Category 2

After completing this learning program, participants will be better able to:

1. Recognise the prevalence of osteoporosis in men, and the public health burden associated with underdiagnosis and lack of treatment.
2. Identify men at risk of osteoporosis by proactively evaluating risk factors, and using appropriate screening techniques.
3. Advise men on lifestyle choices for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis
4. Counsel men with osteoporosis on appropriate pharmacological treatment options, including dosage regimens, patient safety and possible adverse effects.
