On completion of this program, GPs will be better able to:

  1. Assess patients regarding their contraceptive needs and prescribe the most appropriate combined oral contraceptive pills (COCPs)
  2. Counsel patients regarding how to manage heavy or difficult periods
  3. Distinguish between available options among oral contraceptives with regard to dosing and regimens
  4. Asses the data regarding the long-term impact of fewer periods and consistent hormone levels
  5. Counsel patients on the safe and proper use of new COCPs, including emergency contraceptives*
