Rethinking anti-coagulation in non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) and venous thromboembolism (VTE) – QI&CPD – Category 1

On completion of this program, participants will be better able to:

1. Review indications and the current clinical guideline recommendations for anticoagulation and stroke prevention in NVAF and in the treatment of VTE
2. Recall anticoagulant evidence (safety and efficacy) in NVAF and VTE
3. Determine the most appropriate treatment option for patients with NVAF and treatment and prevention of VTE
4. Counsel patients on the importance of adherence to Non-VKA oral anticoagulant (NOAC) therapy
