Objectif(s) d'apprentissage
After completing this program, the GP will be better able to:
- Systematically assess risk of stroke and major bleeding in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (AF) receiving warfarin therapy using validated scales
- Assess the quality of existing anticoagulation management
- Identify and manage obstacles to the appropriate use of warfarin in patients with non-valvular AF
- Familiarise yourself with the Novel Oral Anticoagulants (NOACs) and issues relevant to their use
- Identify patients who might be appropriate candidates for NOAC treatment
- Develop a systematic approach to the initiating, transferring, maintaining and monitoring NOAC treatment in suitable patients
- Familiarise yourself with relevant treatment guidelines and patient resources relevant to the management of patients with non-valvular AF receiving oral anticoagulation therapy.
