Objectif(s) d'apprentissage
After completing this program, GPs will be better able to:
- Discuss stroke risk in non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) and describe the evidence on stroke prevention vs bleeding with novel oral anticoagulants (NOACs) vs warfarin
- Interpret the real world safety evidence for the NOACs, as it pertains to patient populations
- Assess the impact of patient concerns regarding bleeding in management of AF, and the role of NOAC reversing agents in emergencies
- Employ new communication techniques to proactively engage in conversation and effectively counsel patients with NVAF in a time-poor general practice environment
- Engage in shared decision-making that aims to improve adherence to oral anticoagulation therapy, thereby optimising patient outcomes
