Although clinical practice guidelines recommend specific targets for blood pressure, lipids and HbA1c, primary care research has demonstrated only a small portion of patients with type 2 diabetes are meeting these targets.<\/span><span class=\"normaltextrun\"> With the management of type diabetes, clinicians are still encouraged to work with patients to meet glycaemic targets, but there is an increased focus on a holistic assessment of the patient to reduce the risk of cardiorenal outcomes.
