Current Diabetes Canada clinical practice guidelines recommend adjustment and intensification of antihyperglycemic therapy to reach A1C targets within 3 to 6 months. Chart audits have shown that it is common for diabetes patients not to be offered changes in pharmacotherapy when their A1C is above target. The COVID-19 pandemic has likely worsened this situation.
