Course Description

Obesity in adults is a prevalent and complex chronic disease that affects a significant and growing number of Canadians. The updated guidelines address bias and use of stigmatizing language in health care, and shift the focus to the biological and physiological aspects of obesity and treatments that align with the pathophysiology of obesity. In this podcast, Dr. Shahebina Walji and Dr. Sean Wharton acknowledge obesity as a chronic disease associated with significant bias and stigma, and discuss using a comprehensive, patient-centred approach to obesity management as recommended in the updated Obesity Canada 2020 Guidelines.
