Learning objectives
On completion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the new 2016 Canadian Cardiovascular Society Guidelines for the Management of Dyslipidemia for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease in the Adult
- Apply the latest evidence as it relates to plant sterols, nutrition and the implications of dietary eating patterns on lowering cholesterol and preventing and managing dyslipidemia to counsel patients
- Provide an overview of the role plant sterols can play in the management of dyslipidemia, in combination with a heart-healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables, and as a potential adjunct to statins
