As international travel resumes, pharmacists have an increasingly important role in protecting Canadian travellers from travel-related illnesses.

This program will help pharmacists make pre-travel health recommendations and advise patients on appropriate prevention strategies to reduce the risks of common travel-related diseases (i.e. travellers’ diarrhea, hepatitis A&B, typhoid, and rabies) and to prevent mosquito-borne diseases during travel.

  • Make pre-travel health recommendations based on the patient’s medical history, travel destination, and travel itinerary
  • Implement prevention strategies to reduce the risks of common travel-related diseases
  • Provide an overview of common mosquito-borne diseases and how to prevent them during travel
  • Identify travellers requiring a referral to a travel medicine specialist or travel clinic.
