Learning objectives

Upon successful completion of this continuing education module, the participant will be better able to:

  1. Discuss the evidence for remission of diabetes.
  2. Initiate diabetes treatment in newly-diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes, according to the Diabetes Canada guidelines.
  3. Start a conversation with patients to enable shared decision making for treatment initiation.
  4. Individualize treatment according to patient concerns and priorities.
