Learning objectives
On completion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Describe the prevalence of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women, and the public health burden associated with under-diagnosis and lack of treatment.
- Proactively investigate and diagnose osteoporosis in postmenopausal women using appropriate screening techniques including risk factor evaluation.
- Individualise pharmacological treatment strategies, taking into account route of administration and frequency of dosing, in order to reduce morbidity and increase quality of life.
- Counsel patients on safety and possible adverse effects associated with osteoporosis treatments.
