Learning objectives

After reviewing the presentation, participants will be able to:

Video 1: Thyroid Nodules In Children

1. Recognize the importance of diagnosing the presence of thyroid nodules and treating the rare disease of Differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC).

2. Identify diagnostic information through the presentation of case studies.

3. Utilize evaluation and diagnostic skills to treat, manage and provide long-term follow-up.

Video 2: Overview of Dyslipidemia in Children

1. Identify dyslipidemia in children, causes, associated risk factors and treatment.

2. Recognize the current epidemic of childhood obesity and its role in associated diseases, including atherosclerosis.

3. Utilize a diagnostic approach to dyslipidemia and obesity in childhood by identifying comorbidities and family history.

Video 3: Screening and Follow Up for Congenital Hypothyroidism

1. Identify the clinical symptoms of Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) (e.g. course features, large tongue, dry skin, constipation, jaundice, umbilical hernia, goiter, bradycardia and developmental delay.)

2. Recognize the serious outcomes of undiagnosed Congenital hypothyroidism (CH).

3. Engage in utilizing internationally recommended guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of CH and to unify methods and treatment.

Video 4: Primary Hyperaldosteronism

1. Recognize the role of aldosterone in primary hyperaldosteronism.

2. Identify the clinical presentation, the importance of the physical examination and further investigation when required.

3. Engage available tests for confirming autonomous aldosterone secretion leading to treatment.

Video 5: Short Stature: Clinical Approach

1. Identify the physiology of growth as it relates to short stature.

2. Define what constitutes short stature and to how assess it in children.

3. Recognize the etiology and why some children are deemed to be short.
