Learning objectives
Upon successful completion of this continuing education module, you will be better able to:
- Assess a patient with obesity to determine if they are a good candidate for bariatric surgery
- Review the different bariatric surgery procedures
- Discuss the short and long-term complications of the different bariatric surgery procedures
- Counsel a patient on the health benefits of bariatric surgery
- Explore the nutritional adjustments required post-bariatric surgery
Accreditation
Each module within the Advanced Obesity Management Program has been individually accredited. The program is expected to take participants approximately 16 to 20 hours to complete, depending on your pace. Program certificates are offered once all module requirements are completed.
This program meets the accreditation criteria of The College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been accredited for Mainpro+ Credits.
This activity has been approved by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners QI&CPD Program (accreditation expires on August 9, 2019).
