Learning objectives
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Describe the importance of a multifactorial approach to pharmacotherapy in the management of type 2 diabetes, including glycemic control, weight reduction, increasing physical activity, managing hypertension, improving dyslipidemia, smoking cessation and CV risk reduction
- Understand the importance of weight on the management type 2 diabetes and antihyperglycemic selection
- Facilitate clinical decision making for selecting the appropriate class of drug for the individual patient
- Differentiate between GLP-1 RAs and SGLT2 inhibitors in vascular risk reduction
- Review the management of type 2 diabetes in older people
