Learning objectives
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
- Implement the 2017 Canadian Urological Association (CUA) Guideline on Adult overactive bladder (OAB).
- Identify medications available in Canada to treat OAB, highlighting how different mechanisms of action (MOA), drug-drug interactions (DDIs) and side effects affect treatment selection for OAB.
- Recognize the impact of OAB on quality of life and the importance of proactively discussing OAB with patients.
- Explore practical patient case studies to understand which treatment options are most appropriate for different patient profiles.
- Discuss best practices and strategies, including specific patient tools, to effectively counsel OAB patients regarding treatment options, side effects and importance of adherence.
- Discuss specialists, family physicians and pharmacists’ roles and the importance of communication between HCPs to optimize OAB management and adherence.
