Learning objectives
On completion of this program, participants will be better able to:
- Recognise the value of structured testing of blood glucose and ketones in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes
- Explain to patients how to conduct structured self-monitoring of blood glucose, interpret results and take appropriate action
- Extract valuable patient data by using appropriate meters and software
- Discuss with the patient the benefits of using a blood glucose meter that captures insulin doses, measures ketones and which can act as a prompt or guidance tool to aid in diabetes management
