EB#1: Daily Management of Blood Glucose Levels

Pharmacists play a critical role in supporting and counselling people with diabetes. Managing glycemic variability is a common challenge. Tracking time in range of glycemic targets can provide useful information about acute glycemic excursions and frequency of hypo- and hyperglycemia. It can also identify the magnitude and frequency of intra- and inter-day glucose variation.

Real-time continuous glucose monitoring (rtCGM) and intermittently scanned glucose monitoring (isCGM) provide frequent blood glucose values that allow patients and clinicians to understand patterns of glycemic variability.

Listen to pharmacists Carol Wei and Tom Smiley discuss the power of tracking time in range, and how rtCGM and isCGM uncover hypoglycemia/hyperglycemia and glycemic variability to reduce complications from diabetes.
