The widespread adoption of virtual healthcare has been accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Although clinicians have adopted the electronic medical record, many still rely on the unsecure technology of fax to prescribe medications. Electronic prescribing (E-prescribing) has been readily used in other countries as it enhances patient safety, security, interprofessional collaboration and simplifying prescribing processes such as refill requests.
