The widespread adoption of virtual healthcare has been accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Although clinicians have adopted the electronic medical record, many still rely on the unsecure technology of fax to prescribe medications. Electronic prescribing (E-prescribing) has been readily used in other countries as it enhances patient safety, security, interprofessional collaboration and simplifying prescribing processes such as refill requests. E-prescribing is designed to transform the way prescriptions are created and dispensed in Canada. Canadian clinicians are now rapidly adopting this new technology into their practice. In this video series, e-prescribing experts review the technology, its key features and how to integrate it into practice.
This program has received an educational grant or in-kind support from Canada Health Infoway.
